…retired auto mechanic; 71
TEWKSBURY – John Francis “Butch” Morris, age 71, a resident of Tewksbury for the last five decades and retired auto and truck mechanic, died Wednesday morning, October 16, at Lahey Medical Center in Burlington, after a long courageous battle for his life. He was the beloved husband of Marguerite G. “Peggy” (Mallahan) Morris, with whom he had celebrated a forty-third wedding anniversary this past March.
Butch was born in Cambridge, a son of the late John C. and Mary (Russas) Morris, and raised in Waltham. He graduated from Waltham Vocational High School, and became a printing pressman for the U.S. Government. He changed careers, became an automobile mechanic, and for many years, worked at the Main and Shawsheen Street Mobil auto service station in Tewksbury. He went on to retire from New England Motor Freight company, where he had worked as a truck maintenance man and mechanic. He had lived in Tewksbury since 1976.
Butch loved fishing and golf, working on cars, and watching Boston’s professional sports teams on TV.
Besides his wife, he leaves two children; Amanda Morris and Kyle Morris, both of Tewksbury; a brother, Philip Morris and his wife Katherine (Delorey) of Tewksbury; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial visiting hours are Saturday, Nov. 2, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.
