CHICOPEE – Philip J. Lupien Sr., 72, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, October 11, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by all the memories that he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on April 13, 1947, a beloved son of the late Napoleon and Florida (Charland) Lupien. He was raised in Holyoke and moved to Chicopee in 1970 where he lived the remainder of his life. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy and attained the rank of Seaman. He later served in the United States Air Force during Operation Desert Storm/Shield and attained the rank of Technical Sergeant. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Training Ribbon, the Air Force Legacy Service Medal, the Small Arms Expert Marksman Ribbon and the Southwest Asia Service Medal. He was last employed in the shipping department at James River Graphics, now, Rexham Graphics in South Hadley. He was a member of the Amvets Post 12, the VFW, the American Legion Post 452 and the American Legion Post 275, all in Chicopee. He leaves his three loving children, Tanya S. Hayward and her husband, Mark, of Chicopee, PJ Lupien of Chicopee, and Bryce Y. Lupien and his wife, Becky, of Springfield; his three dear step-children, John W. Jones of South Hadley, David A. Jones and his wife, Shannon, of North Carolina, and Wendy A. Naslund and her husband, Eric, of West Springfield; his eight cherished grandchildren, Cody, Amber and Megan, Jordan and Shae, and Raiden, Kaylie and Racheal; his cherished great-grandson, Owen; his five dear sisters, Sylvia Vachon, Terry Kalis, Lucy Godek and her husband, Frank, Shirley Sudsbury and her husband, Danny, and Noella Chalifoux; his former wives, Susan Cummings of Chicopee and June E. Jones of South Hadley; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the family. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his four dear brothers, Leo, Robert, Donald, and Leonard Lupien; and his two dear sisters, Doris Downey and Fernande “Estelle” Antinoli. His Funeral will be held on Friday morning, October 18, 2019 at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 413-532-9806, 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 8:45 a.m.), with a Prayer Service to take place at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. His Committal Service with United States Air Force Military Honors will follow the Prayer Service at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
