Betty J. (Parks) (Young) Craig 88 of Lakeville, formerly of East Bridgewater, passed away on Wednesday October 9 in the Sippican Health Center after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Young and the late Jan R. Craig.
Born in Brockton and raised in Abington, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Doris (Oddie) Parks and a graduate of Abington High, Class of 1948.
Betty was a great cook and along with her husband Jan, owned and operated a successful catering business in East Bridgewater for many years.
She loved to sew, knit and crochet and enjoyed sharing her talents with her family and friends. She enjoyed bowling, collecting tea sets, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was also an avid Patriots fan and enjoyed watching every game!
She was the mother of Nancy A. (Young) Klockson and her late husband Stanley of Franklin, William J. Young and his wife Mary of Halifax, Deborah (Young) Winslow and her husband Robert of Plympton and Lynda J. (Craig) Sargent and her husband Steven of Manchester, NH as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Donald Parks, Gordon Parks and Joan (Parks) Benson.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Monday October 14 from 10:00-11:00 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 AM in the Fern Hill Cemetery, High Street, Hanson.
