Edmund J. Botelho, Jr., of New Bedford passed away on Sunday October 6, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital at the age of 76 years old.
Born in New Bedford, he was the loving son of the late Edmund J. Botelho and Jean Sylvia Woodury, and stepson of the late Hilda Costa Botelho.
Edmund lived his life as a fish cutter in the New Bedford fishing industry and later as a mechanic for the New Bedford Police Department. He loved carpentry and helping everyone.
Edmund honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1964.
He was the doting husband to his wife Mariana Botelho, and the proud father to his son Michael Edmund Botelho and his wife Rebecca, and his daughter Tammy Ann (Botelho) Fortes and her husband Derek. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Erin DuPont, Jesse DuPont, Jordan Arruda, Katelyn Arruda, Justin Botelho, Michael Botelho, Jr. and Austin Botelho; his great-grandchildren, Alexia Medeiros, Dean DuPont, and Landyn Arruda; his niece, Phoenix Carreiro, and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother to many siblings.
