Albert W. "Al" Lane Jr., a former longtime resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at his residence in New Port Richey Florida on October 5, 2019. He was 90.
Mr. Lane was born February 17, 1929, the son of the late Albert W. Sr. and Susie (Sivacek) Lane. He married Dorothy (Conell) Lane on June 8, 1958. They had three children. Dotty died in 2005.
Al grew up in Wilmington and was a proud veteran of both the Army and Air Force during the Korean War. He returned to Wilmington following his honorable discharge and worked as a postal carrier for 33 years until his retirement in 1992, when he and Dotty moved to Spring Hill, Florida.
He is survived by a son, Scott Lane and his wife Kathy of Montgomery, AL, and their two daughters Christine Lane of Seal Beach, CA and Lauren Lane of Dallas, TX, a daughter, Karen Lane of New Port Richey, FL, and a son, Joe Lane of Hampton Beach, NH. He also leaves his sister, Helen Carver of Wilmington Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Lane.
Al was an avid collector of toy soldiers and was a member of the Wilmington Minutemen revolutionary war re-enactors.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Dello Russo - Cavanaugh Family Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Tuesday, October 15th, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the service starting at 9 a.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
