Obituary

Lucinda (Crandall) Ricker Arms, 83, of 186 Jerry Browne Road, died Saturday at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Arms was born in Stonington on June 30, 1922 the daughter of William S. and Mabel (Taylor) Crandall. She was a graduate of Stonington High School and later received her nursing education at the Rhode Island School of Nursing.

A registered Nurse, Mrs. Arms briefly worked in the operating room at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital before joining the staff at Rhode Island Hospital as an O.R. Nurse.

Active in the community, Mrs. Arms was a member of the Mystic Congregational Church, served on the boards of the Stonington Historical Society, Nathaniel Palmer House, and was a Docent of the Lyman Allyn Museum. She was also a member of the Masons Island Yacht Club, Ram Island Yacht Club, a supporter of the Mystic & Noank Library, and was an active member of the Mystic Garden Club.

Mrs. Arms was also a member of the L.A.M.B.S. of Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, the “Lunch Bunch”, and volunteered as a reading specialist. An avid reader, she also enjoyed travel, adventure, gardening and Antiquing. One of her greatest passions was golf, and was a member of the Woodstock (VT) Country Club and Pequot Golf Club.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Graves Arms Sr; her daughter, Carol Ricker Vahlstrom of Medford, NJ; and a granddaughter, Sarah Dawley Vahlstrom of Bayport, NY. She was predeceased by her first husband, Albert E. Ricker Jr., former Chairman of the Board of Chelsea-Groton Savings Bank.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at Mystic Congregational Church on Saturday at 2pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Co-officiating will be the Rev. Thomas Ratmeyer and the Rev. Mark A. Santucci. Her family will gather privately for a burial service at Elm Grove Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
