Henry M. Mayo, 74, of 334 Brook Street, Noank, died Saturday at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Mayo was born in Danielson on March 6, 1931 the son of Henry Mayo and Doris Monahan Mayo Abbott. He was a graduate of Cheshire Academy and attended Boston University. He later served in the US Navy.
Henry was a familiar face at many local establishments, including Carson’s Store in Noank.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lucas Mayo; his children, Henry M. Mayo Jr. of Bridgeport, CT, Bridget Duffy of North Easton, MA, Christopher Mayo of Franklin, MA, and Alexa Mayo of Columbia, MD; his grandchildren, Katherine Duffy, Jack Duffy, Samuel Wilson, Nora Wilson, and Hanna Mayo; and many friends. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Ann (Hunter) Mayo, to whom he was married for 43 years before her death in 1999.
His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 10-10:45am. A Memorial Service will follow at 11am with The Rev. Doretta M. Colburn officiating. Burial will be private at Noank Valley Cemetery.
