Efren Hernandez Of Rockland formerly of Jamaica Plain, beloved husband of Miriam, father to Giovanny, Marvin and Byron, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday October 6, 2019.
Efren retired as a trial court officer in 2009. Prior to his career as a court officer, Efren worked for the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department at the old Charles Street Jail.
Efren also traveled the world as a Merchant Marine in his youth and was a radio announcer in his native Guatemala.
Efren was the life of the party. He never met a stranger, if you were lucky enough to counted as a friend, then you had a friend for life. He always had a story or a joke. No one ever went away hungry or thirsty, he would always make you feel welcome.
Efren loved and adored his grandchildren. Guy, Natallya, Fredicia, Cristian, Ariela, Gianna and Abby. He recently became a great grandfather with the birth of his little man Lysander. Efren leaves behind siblings, nieces and nephews that will miss him terribly.
He will be rooting for his Barcelona and Guastatoya soccer clubs and all his New England sports teams, from a recliner in heaven.
Visiting hours at the P.E. Murray-F.J. Higgins George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St., WEST ROXBURY, Friday, Oct. 11 from 4:00-8:00pm. Funeral from the funeral home Saturday, Oct. 12 at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Roslindale at 10:00am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Private Interment.
