Debra A. (St. Pierre) Donovan, 65 of New Bedford passed away October 5, 2019 at home after a long courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her family.
She was the wife of James R. Donovan.
Born and raised in Fall River, daughter of Joseph Raymond and Janet L. (Hebert) St. Pierre, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1972 and later received her Associates Degree in Psychology from Bristol Community College, her Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Education from Southeastern Massachusetts University and her Masters Degree in Education from Cambridge College.
She was formerly employed as a teacher at Carney Academy for 25 years until her retirement 7 years ago.
Debra was a loving Meme who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, trips to the casino and travel.
Survivors include her husband; her parents; 2 sons, Matthew Donovan and his wife Allison of Raynham and Ryan Donovan and his wife Vanessa of Dartmouth; 2 sisters, Karen Bentley and her husband Brian and Renee Silva and her husband Steven, all of Fall River; 2 grandchildren, Charlotte and Connor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Steven St. Pierre and sister-in-law of the late Anne St. Pierre.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, October 10th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, October 9th from 4-8 PM.
