SPRINGFIELD – Susan M. Kennedy, 66, a longtime resident of the East Forest Park section of Springfield and a summer resident of Cape Cod, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, September 28, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on May 21, 1953, a beloved daughter of the late William B. Kennedy who was Called Home on March 14, 2018 and the late Anne M. (Sheehan) Kennedy who was Called Home on September 1, 2012. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School Class of 1971, received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Notre Dame College in Manchester, NH, her Master’s Degree in Education from American International College in Springfield. She was proud to be a teacher and touched many young lives in the Springfield Public School System. She was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association. Susan was passionate about her beloved Boston Red Sox which carried through as she coached the Central High School Boys Junior Varsity Baseball team. She was an extremely generous person who loved to entertain her family and many friends. She was known to many as a “professional” Keno player. She loved spending time on the beach at the Cape in South Yarmouth. She will always be remembered affectionately by her quick wit to many questions which was, “Are You Out of Your Mind?”. She leaves her four loving siblings, Kevin E. Kennedy and his wife, Deborah, of Springfield, Anmarie Cenisio and her husband, Marco, of North Andover, Brian T. Kennedy of Springfield and Joan Kennedy Rayno and her husband, Stephen Craig, of Salem, NH; her eight cherished nephews and nieces, Sara Kennedy, Kevin Kennedy and his wife, Aura, Melissa DePiano and her husband, Ernesto, Michael Cenisio, Nicholas Kennedy, Samantha Kennedy, William Kennedy Rayno and Mary Kennedy Rayno; her eight cherished great-nephews and great-nieces, Anna, Jack and Ryan Tedesco, Carolyn and Emma Kennedy and Luca, Grayson and Cash DePiano; her dear uncle, Edward T. Sheehan and his wife, Florence, of Wilbraham; and numerous cousins and friends. Susan will also be deeply missed by her faithful canine companion, Brandy Grace. Her family would like to thank the staff at Cape Cod Hospital for their compassionate care. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. which will be followed by a 10:30 a.m. Prayer Service at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Her burial will follow the Prayer Service at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109.
