HOLLIS- John A. Larry, age 76, passed away suddenly in Portland surrounded
by his loving family on September 25, 2019.
He was born on June 4, 1943, a son of Robert W. and Priscilla (Alden),
Larry and was a 1964 graduate of Bonny Eagle High School.
In 1969, John married his wife Kathleen (Verrill) Larry of Sebago Lake,
where they resided for many years.
He served in the United States Coast Guard and Coast Guard Reserves.
Over the years he was employed by Sherwin Williams, Emery-Waterhouse
Co., Tim's True Value, and Cook's Hardware.
John enjoyed woodworking, jig-saw puzzles, and working around his family
home on the Saco River in Hollis. He and his wife Kathy liked to travel with
friends to Alaska, the Panama Canal, the Caribbean, and cruising on the
Mississippi River. A highlight of their travels was a 6-week tour of the
United States, traveling from Maine to California. He also loved to visit
New Orleans and Mississippi to visit friends.
He was an active volunteer at the Bar Mills Community Church where he
helped prepare community lunches and dinners.
He is predeceased by his parents.
John is survived by his loving wife Kathy of Hollis, daughter Julie Larry of
Biddeford, brothers Robert Larry of Biddeford, and Peter Larry (Elaine) of
South Carolina, and several nieces and a nephew.
At his request, there will be no memorial service.
A private burial will take place at South Buxton (Tory) Cemetery.
