CHICOPEE ~ Eleanor M. “Ellie” (Youlio) Grimaldi, 94, of Chicopee and a former resident of North Port, FL, peacefully departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. She was born on December 1, 1924 in Newburgh, New York, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Alice (Quinn) Youlio. She was educated in the Newburgh schools and had lived in Springfield and Longmeadow for many years before moving to North Port, FL in 1989 and returned to the Northeast a few months ago. She was employed at Dupont in Newburgh, in the insurance and fastener fields in Massachusetts and retired from Tyler Equipment Company in East Longmeadow. During her younger years, Ellie was actively involved in many functions, community projects and activities. She kept busy and was always on the go, bowled for many years and was an avid bingo and card player. Ellie was a devoted and faithful friend to many, loved entertaining and enjoyed helping others whenever and in whatever ways she could. Always with an optimistic outlook, she was a remarkable example of faith and a caring and compassionate, independent, energetic and generous person. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Matthew F. Grimaldi who passed away on December 25, 1980. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Paquette and her husband, Jeff, of Chicopee; her son, Tom Grimaldi of Huntington; and her two grandchildren, Tami Cote and her husband, Scott, of South Hadley and Matt Paquette and his wife, Jackie, of Belchertown. Ellie also leaves many loving and dedicated family members in the Newburgh area including her two sisters, Pat Mullarkey and Betty Maher and her brother, Bob Youlio and his wife, Cheryl. She also leaves her brother, John Youlio and his wife, Lorraine, of Spring Hill, FL; and her many nephews, nieces and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her two sisters, Dot Weiner and her husband, Bud, and Lee Youlio; and her two brothers, Bill Youlio and Larry Youlio and his wife, Mary. Ellie’s family would like to sincerely thank the marvelously caring staff at the Arbors in Chicopee for their warm welcome, many kindnesses and support. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at Saint Michael Cemetery in Springfield. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the Mass.
