Obituary

Lawrence “Double L” Lehane, of Malden, passed away on September 25, 2019. He was 72 years old.

Lawrence was the beloved husband of 35 years to Judi (Powers) Lehane. He was the son of the late John and Mary (Sullivan) Lehane. Lawrence was loving father of Timothy Lehane of Malden, Kelly Kelleher and her husband Dennis of Malden, and Brian Lehane and his wife Sara of Hamden, CT. He was the dear brother of Dorothy Harrell, Jackie Lehane, Patricia Cameron, Connie Holland, and the late Mary McKinnon, James Lehane, and Irene Bentley, and brother in-law of John Powers, Michael Powers, Kevin Powers, and the late Brian Powers. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Larry was a lifelong Malden/Medford resident. He grew up in West Medford spending his days at Playstead Park and the Gleason School. After graduating from Medford Vocational High School with printing as his trade, Larry worked for different printing companies such as Finch Engraving and Mass Envelope. For the last 14 years, Larry worked for the City of Malden Facilities Department. On top of his day to day job, Larry spent the last 35 years working at the TD Garden in Concessions and Bartending working all the events for the Bruins/Celtics and Concerts. He loved working with his colleagues and friends at The Garden, and seeing the customers as it was a big part of his social life.

Outside of work, Larry spent his time with his family. He loved going for car rides no matter where he was going, as long as he was driving, and you didn't expect to be there fast because he would be going slow in the right lane on the highway. It could be drives up to Richardon's for Ice Cream when his children were younger or down the cape in Sandwich with Judi where they loved staying at the Sandwich Lodge and Resorts and exploring new restaurants and going to the beach. He loved driving to see the waves at Revere Beach, stopping at Kelly's Roast Beef with Judi, or driving around the local neighborhood. Larry also enjoyed spending time in the garden and sitting outside in the sun, while listening to his favorite 60’s music. He also enjoyed his weekly Honey Dew Coffee and muffins or donuts on Sunday mornings while reading the newspaper.

Larry was the most kind and wonderful man, and devoted father and husband. He was the most hardworking, generous and selfless person, always putting others first and will be greatly missed.
