Hilton Gann, 82, of Tifton passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Terrell Roberts and the Elder Marty Mullis officiating. Mr. Gann will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 28, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Randy Tucker, Gary Grimes, Todd Gann, Scotty Clark, Keith Kendrick and Kyle Kendrick will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Kendrick, Gene Glover, Gary Hobbs and his friends and co-workers at UPS.
Born March 4, 1937 in Guin, Alabama, Mr. Gann was the son of the late Eldo Gann and Winnie Newell Gann. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Girley and Nell Kendrick; one sister, Barbara Goins; and one brother, Robert Gann. Before retiring, he was employed by UPS for 30 years and also worked at Gold Kist and Cooksey Steel. He had lived in Tifton and Ty Ty most of his life. He enjoyed Nascar and was a member of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame. He also served in the Georgia National Guard and loved traveling to the mountains.
Mr. Gann is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lutrelle Kendrick Gann of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gena and Tracy Green of Tifton and Genger and Michael Stone of Ty Ty; grandchildren, Wade and Macey Green, Glyn Green, Beau Stone and his fiance’ Brooke Carrington and Brady Stone; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Marie Gann of Tifton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Joann Baird and Linda and Jimmie Norman, all of Tifton; a sister-in-law, Toni Gann of Tifton; and many nieces and nephews.
