Vera Parrish Holston, 92, of Atlanta, Georgia, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, September 23, 2019.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, September 29, 2019, at Brushy Creek Cemetery in Irwin County, with the Rev. Ed Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Vera was born in Tift County, Georgia, on October 27, 1926 to the late Susie Paulk Parrish and John William Parrish. Vera returned to school later in life and completed her training as a Registered Nurse. She practiced her profession for many years in various medical facilities, including the Irwin County Health Department and Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home, both in Ocilla.
Vera loved beautiful things and had a great sense of style, as evidenced by her meticulous dress and lovely paintings. She also enjoyed creating beautiful wreaths and other craft projects. Even as she grew older, she never lost her sense of adventure. Vera loved the Lord and she loved her family. She will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William Michael Weaver (Rose) of Rincon; a granddaughter, Sarah Weaver; as well as many nieces and nephews, including her beloved niece, Lurene Justice. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Margie Sue Lewis; a grandson, Matthew William Weaver; sisters: Louise Harper, Katherine Dubreuiel, Reatha Rawlins, and Carolyn Hester; and brothers: Elbert Parrish, Ashley Parrish, John Parrish, Jr. and Harold Parrish.
