Obituary

Franklin Delano Rego, 77, of New Bedford died Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at home after a long illness.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Manuel and Mary P. (Rapoza) Rego, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force.

Mr. Rego was employed as a New Bedford firefighter for many years until his retirement in 1992.

He loved woodworking.

Survivors include his son, David S. Rego; two sisters, Nancy Brown and her husband William, and Deborah Branquinho; two granddaughters, Sarah Rego and Shana Ryan; his aunt, Evelyn Costa; his sister-in-law, Ruth Rego; his Godson, William Brown, Jr.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his son, Todd A. Rego and his brother, Manuel Rego, Jr.

His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 10:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 AM, prior to the service.
