Andrew Lamar “Marty” Harvey, 69, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, September 15, 2019, at his residence. He was ushered into Heaven by his Savior Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held 5 PM, Thursday, September 26, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Pastor Gerald Gardner officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 8 PM on Thursday. Interment will follow with military honors 1 PM, Friday, September 27, 2019, at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2617 Vinson Highway, Milledgeville, GA 31061.
Mr. Harvey was born February 12, 1950, in Ashburn, Georgia, to the late Solomon A. & Ruth Parks Harvey. Mr. Harvey served in the United States Air Force from April 1969 until April 3, 1973 as a weapons system specialist for the 431st Tactical Fighter Squadron and 431st Tactical Fighter Wing. He was a disabled honorable Vietnam era veteran. He earned a Bachelor’s degree and was a mechanical engineer in the manufacturing industry. He was a landscape engineer and had a passion for flowers and yard work, evident in his well-manicured lawn.
Mr. Harvey is survived by his wife of 34 blessed years, Rene’ Olinyk Batcher Harvey of Fitzgerald; a son, David Charles Batcher, III, a daughter, Danae’ Marie Batcher, a son, Darren Harvey and his wife Shonda of Jacksonville, FL, a daughter, Amy Marie Harvey of Jacksonville, FL; six brothers: Jerry L. Harvey & Effie of Williston, FL, Jimmy Don Harvey, Sr. & Shirlene of High Springs, FL, John Daniel Harvey of Lake City, FL, Joe Paul Harvey of High Springs, FL, Roy Malcom Harvey of East Palatka, FL and Tony Williams Harvey & Pam of San Mateo, FL; three sisters: Ruth Elouise Hooper of Arp, TX, Sally Ann Carver & Cliff of Lake City, FL and Shirley Mae Tharp & Newt of Live Oak, FL; two grandsons: David Dean Batcher IV and Sebastian Andrew; two great-grandsons: Jace Batcher and Hunter Batcher. Numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and his much-loved aunt, Emma Summerlin & Rex of East Palatka, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Gene Harvey; his mother-in-law, Gloria Olinyk; father-in-law, Harvey Olinyk; brother-in-law, Michael Olinyk and brother-in-law, Jerry Hooper.
