LUDLOW ~ Donald E. “Don” Burrage, 81, of Lakeland, Florida and a former longtime resident of Springfield and Ludlow, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, August 31, 2019. He was born in Ludlow on June 6, 1938, beloved son of the late Earl Milton Burrage and Dorilla M.(Boucher) Burrage. He was raised in Ludlow and graduated second in his class at Ludlow High School. Don served his country in the United States Navy and attained the rank of Air Controlman Second Class. Following his military service, he returned to the area and was employed for many years as a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service working at the Winchester Square Office and the Forest Park Office, both in Springfield. He was a longtime umpire for the Springfield Men’s Softball Leagues. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Chris (Collins) Burrage who was Called Home on October 11, 2010. He leaves his loving children, William E. Burrage and his wife, Melissa, Amy L. Schack and her husband, Tom, and David A. Burrage and his wife, Laurie; his loving step-daughter, Michelle Kronick and her husband, Ira; his four cherished grandchildren, Allan, Nathan and Emily Burrage and Isabella Kronick; his dear brother, Roger Burrage and his wife, Donna; his dear sister, JoAnne DeGray; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his dear brother, Howard A. Burrage. His burial will be private at the convenience of his family at Four Corners Cemetery in Thorndike.
