Kim Leverett, 84, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, September 20, 2019, at Ocilla Baptist Church in Ocilla, with the Rev. Robert Couey, the Rev. Billy Stephens, and Elder Walt DeLoach officiating. Interment will follow in Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Leverett was born November 6, 1934, in Kagashima Ken, Japan, to the late Masaich Nakada & Yumi Kubo. She traveled throughout the United States alongside her husband, Drew H. Leverett, who retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. They lived in Goldsboro, North Carolina, Mary Esther, Florida, Spokane, Washington, and Warner Robins before returning to Ocilla in 1985 to retire. She worked in environmental services at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington State and as a seamstress at Levi Strauss in Macon. She enjoyed sewing and cooking and was a master at Origami. She loved to make sushi and enjoyed eating at Captain D’s. While in Warner Robins, she was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. She was a longtime active member of Ocilla Baptist Church where she was in the Gleaner’s Sunday school class and formerly served as Sunshine Chairman. She also participated in the WMU.
She is survived by her two sons and their spouses: James W. & Tracey Leverett and David B. & Pamela Leverett, all of Ocilla; grandchildren: Jimmy Leverett and his fiancé Sorpresha Hernandez, Jordan & Jessie Leverett, Wyatt & Sarah Leverett, Lorelei Leverett, Payton Leverett & his fiancé Laykn Pendarvis, and Jessi Leverett and her fiancé; Nick Chaney; and great-grandchildren: Kassie Leverett, Ian Leverett, and Freyr Chaney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Drew H. Leverett; an infant daughter; one brother and one sister.
