Jan Purvis Goodman, 71, of Alapaha, Georgia, died Sunday, September 15, 2019, at her daughter’s residence in Ocilla.
Memorial graveside services will be held 4 PM, Friday, September 20, 2019, at Spring Hill Cemetery in Irwin County, with the Rev. Sammy Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Goodman was born April 9, 1948, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Leo & Lillie DeBerry Purvis. She lived in the community all of her life and graduated from Berrien County High School in 1966. She was a hairdresser and also was an agent for Liberty National Life Insurance Company. Mrs. Goodman enjoyed painting, fishing and working in her yards, especially growing flowers.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Martin of Ocilla; a grandchild, Kensly Martin of Ocilla; two brothers: Charles Purvis & Betty of Alapaha and Hughlon Purvis of Enigma. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister and a brother, Johnny Purvis.
