Sheila Sanders Sheppard, 55, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Sunday, September 15, 2019, at Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Jerry Turner officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Sheppard was born February 14, 1964, in Bartow, Florida, to Mary Ann Moody Sanders of Fitzgerald and the late Billy Lee Sanders. She worked as a cook in the United States Army for civil service and traveled all over the world. She lived in Washington state, Colorado, and Louisiana. She also lived abroad in Paris and Germany. Mrs. Sheppard was honored to cook for President Bill Clinton while in Germany. She moved from Germany to Fitzgerald in 2000. She was a driver for A-1 Medical Transport. She was a loving wife and very devoted to her grandchildren. Mrs. Sheppard will be remembered for always being willing to help others and always smiling.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Sheppard of Fitzgerald; children: James Lee Stinson & Meghan of Bartow, Florida, Sandra Martin & Billy Joe of Fitzgerald, Nikki Zerbe & Butch of Fitzgerald, and James Sheppard & Heather of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Addisan Stinson, Baileigh Stinson, Dustin Dowdy, Brittany Dowdy, Nathan Dean, Leiah Zerbe, Willis Zerbe, Jr., Mason Rogers, and Nicholas Rogers; brothers: Wilburn Lee & Karen Sanders of Fitzgerald, Billy Wayne Sanders of Fitzgerald, Donald Sanders of Cairo and Michael Sanders of Fitzgerald; sisters, Annie Watts of Fitzgerald, Reber & Jimmy Byrd of Ocilla, Jane & Calvin Mitchell of Rochelle, Christy Dietzel of Fitzgerald and Eva Mae Sanders of Rochelle as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Ann Stinson; a grandchild, Reagann Stinson; and a brother, Glen Dale “Moody Boy” Sanders.
