Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Joyce M. (Connors) Plasse, 88, of the Sixteen Acres section of Springfield was Called Safely Home on Monday, September 9, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Care One at Redstone in East Longmeadow surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born at home in East Longmeadow on April 23, 1931, a beloved daughter of the late Ralph J. and Elizabeth A. (Cavanaugh) Connors. She was raised in Indian Orchard, graduated from the High School of Commerce in Springfield and lived on Alderman Street in the Forest Park section of Springfield before moving to Sixteen Acres. She was employed for many years as a Clerk in the Collectors Office at Springfield City Hall. Joyce was an avid reader and during her leisure time she loved collecting Rooster figurines and prints. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph R. Plasse who was Called Home on October 16, 2013. They were married at Holy Name Church in Springfield on September 22, 1956 and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving niece and caregiver, Gail E. Goodwin and her husband, James Goodwin Jr., of East Longmeadow; her loving nephew, Bruce W. Lemieux and his wife, Francesca, of Orange, CT; her cherished great nephews and great nieces, Krista Elliott and her husband, Ryan, James Goodwin III and his wife, Sara, April Kelly and her husband, Gavin, Erinne Gorneault and her husband, Anthony, Alex Lemieux and Wesley Lemieux; and her many great great nephews and great great nieces. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear sister and brother-in-law, Beverly J. Lemieux who was Called Home on January 14, 1964 and her husband, Lionel A. Lemieux who was Called Home on May 7, 2002. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, September 17, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, September 17, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
