Olin W. Prather, Jr., 84, of Tifton died Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Wayne Roe will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 20, 2006 at Bowen-Donaldson from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of services.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville (Troup County).
Mr. Prather was born on September 23, 1921 in Hogansville (Troup County), GA. He was the son of Olin W. Prather, Sr. and Emma Denny Prather, both deceased. He was retired from American General Life Insurance Company and a member of the First Baptist Church in Tifton. He served in the Army Air Force in the Pacific during World War II; was a Mason for over 50 years; and a former member of the Lions Club and the Kiwanis Club in Tifton. Olin was a devoted husband and father and dearly loved his grandchildren. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed painting. He leaves behind a legacy of Love, Courage, Goodness and, most of all, Faith.
Mr. Prather is survived by his wife, Avanelle Cosper Prather of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia (Pat) and Don Raposo of Norcross; three grandchildren, Christa Clem, Keith Raposo and Jason Raposo; and one great granddaughter, Taylor Allen.
