Eleanor K. "Bridget" (Duarte) Vandiver, 74, passed away on Saturday August 31, 2019. She was the wife of the late Richard Vandiver.
Born in Fairhaven, the daughter of the late John G. and Matilda (Pina) Duarte, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Mrs. Vandiver was formerly employed as a parking supervisor for the City of New Bedford for 13 years. She was later employed by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation for 8 years until her retirement.
She is survived by her six children, Ann Marie Andrews, Clifford Russell, Terrance Russell, Kimberly Cardona, Wayne Vandiver, and Derick "DJ" Vandiver; her brother, Robert Duarte; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Joseph Duarte, Joaquim Duarte, Mary Oliver, Alice Harris, Barbara Pires, William Delgado, Minnie Soares, Pauline Watkins, Dorothy Woodland, Matilda Perry, Bernice Duarte, Marie Lopes, Edith Costa, and John Duarte, Jr.
