Obituary

Johnny “Dale” Chambless, 57, of Ty Ty passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his family. His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2019, at Ty Ty First Baptist Church with the Rev. Conway Harris officiating. Mr. Chambless will be laid to rest at Ty Ty First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 7, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Robert Clem, Joshua Luke, Robbie Kinard, Earl Manders, Art Spears and Jack Cody will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Jones, Kenny Chambless, Danny Conway, Wayne Morgan, Ronnie Vaughn and Stephen Vaughn, along with his brothers.

Born August 14, 1962 in Tifton, Mr. Chambless was the son of Mary Alice Goodman Salter and LaFerrell Salter and the late Johnny Ray Chambless, who passed away on April 9, 2009. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Grady and Sally Mae Ables Chambless; his maternal grandparents, Dorsey and Charlie Mildred Hogan Goodman; and his paternal step-grandmother, Annie Lou Salter. He was a retired construction worker and a former member of Bessie Tift Baptist Church in Tifton. He was a member of the NRA and an honorary member of Camp Osborne in Worth County. He loved to fish, ride horses and ride dirt roads.

In addition to his mother and stepfather, Mr. Chambless is survived by his children and their spouses, Wesley Dale and Brittany Chambless of Sylvester, Jonathan Brent and Lacey Chambless of Valdosta and Doranda Lynn Chambless of Ty Ty; his god-daughter and her husband, Amanda and Ronald Johnson and their children, Samuel and Mitchell; his grandchildren, Ethan Nelms, Colton Chambless, Landon Brown, Bryanna Chambless, Reese Griffin and Addison Chambless; his siblings and their spouses, Debra Chambless Jones and Randy and Cheryl Chambless, all of Ty Ty, Shara and Dennis Dunn of Six Mile, South Carolina, Ray and Kim Salter of Carrolton, Michael and Charlene Salter of Sylvester, Buddy and Debbie Salter of York, South Carolina, Monty and Sharon Salter of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Jeffrey and Lori Salter of Acworth and Scott and Gabe Goodman of Tifton; and 43 nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Tift Area for their tender care of Mr. Chambless during his illness.
