Florence D. (Bariteau) Monteiro, 69, of Marion died January 17, 2006 at Forestview Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Louis Monteiro.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Henry and Yvonne (Laferniere) Bariteau, she lived in New Bedford before moving to Marion 30 years ago.
Mrs. Monteiro was a communicant of St. Rita's Church in Marion.
She was formerly employed by several textile mills in New Bedford for many years until her retirement.
Mrs. Monteiro was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Benjamin Cushing Post 2425 Ladies Auxiliary in Marion.
She enjoyed bingo and camping.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Polselli of Arizona; her stepson, Louis Nye Monteiro, and his wife Phyllis, of Marion; 2 brothers, Robert Bariteau of New Bedford and Rene Bariteau of East Freetown; 3 sisters, Yvonne Santos and Shirley "Laurie" Cunha, both of Dartmouth and Elizabeth Fransico of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Charlie Bariteau, Albert Bariteau, Richard Bariteau, Lucien Bariteau, Fred Bariteau, Violet Gomes and Claire Benoit.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Saturday, January 21st at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Rita's Church, Marion at 10:15 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Friday, January 20th from 4-7 PM.
Interment Evergreen Cemetery.
