Joseph A. Sullo, 98, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died August, 29, 2019, at his home in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Private family services will be held at a later time.
Mr. Sullo was born June 13, 1921, to the late Adam and Jean Sullo. He was a resident of Fitzgerald for 9 years, previously living in Tifton, Ga., and New York.
A graduate of the Pratt Institute in New York, Mr. Sullo studied industrial design and dedicated his life to the engineering field and the arts. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Marine Corp.
After retiring from his position of Chief of Mechanical Design for a New York engineering company, Mr. Sullo pursued his love of oil painting becoming a listed member in Who’s Who in American Art. His award winning work was part of many art shows. His love of art extended to teaching and lecturing. He was very pleased to have his work exhibited in one man shows at the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College of Tifton and at the Carnegie Art Center of Fitzgerald, Ga.
Mr. Sullo was widowed from his wife Rose in 1989. He is survived by his three children: Susan Rochfort of Fitzgerald and William Rochfort, Donna Ledoux of New Jersey and Edmond Ledoux, Peter Sullo of New York and Sylvia Sullo; grandchildren Sylvia Sullo Jahn and Kurt Jahn, and Adam Sullo and Melissa Sullo; and great grandchild Giavanna Sullo.
