Obituary

FALL RIVER… David M. Branchaud, 63, of Fall River passed away August 28, 2019 at St. Anne’s Hospital following a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, he was a son of the late Girard and Sheila (Woodley) Branchaud. He was raised in Massachusetts and had lived here for most of his life with a short time living in London, England after graduating High School.
Mr. Branchaud graduated New Bedford High School in 1973 and went on to become a Forklift Operator for Maritime Terminal Inc. In New Bedford. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 59 and was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church in Dartmouth. Known as “the friendliest stranger around” he was described as one of the kindest people anyone could know without a mean bone in his body. He had a contagious sence of humor that he kept until his final day. An avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, he was an “old school gamer” who enjoyed playing the classics such as cards, Chess, Backgammon, Rummy, Bridge, Horseshoes, Lawn Darts, bowling and more. He enjoyed bus trips to Foxwoods to play Bingo and attend Rock & Roll Concerts. David’s heart was with Project Independence of New Bedford which he attended for over 20 years and was a member of the Boomers Club. His many friends at Project Independence became his extended family and he loved nothing more than spending time with them.
Survivors include his brothers: Steven Branchaud and his companion Ann Rego of New Bedford & Tony Branchaud and his wife Tammy of Taunton; his sister: Maureen Branchaud of Westport; his aunts: Maureen Pushman and her husband Tony of London, England & Rita Branchaud of New Bedford; his uncle: Jack Chrystler of Angola, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. He was the nephew of the late George Branchaud and Theresa Chrysler.
A Mass will be said for David in which relatives and friends are invited will be at St. Julie Billart Church, Solcum Road, Dartmouth, Thursday, September 12, 2019, at 10 AM.
