TEWKSBURY – Gary James Chinchillo, age 75, a well known member of the community, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday evening, August 27, in the loving care of his family and Hospice, after a courageous year long battle with heart disease. He was the beloved husband of Patsy (Backhoff)(Fardin) Chinchillo, with whom he had celebrated a thirty-year wedding anniversary this past October.
Gary was born in Cambridge, one of four children of the late Lincoln and Blanche “Patty” (Dodge) Chinchillo, and raised in Revere. He graduated from Revere High School with the Class of 1962. Gary went on to earn a B.S.B.A. degree from Salem State College. He began his career as a systems analyst at American Mutual Insurance in Wakefield, and later earned a license to sell Real Estate. He, along with his wife, worked for the Tewksbury agencies of Century 21, Realty Connection, and most recently ReMax.
Gary will be remembered for his calm demeanor, kindness, generosity, constant smile, and passion for his beloved Red Sox baseball team.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Christopher Robert Chinchillo of Boston; a daughter, Melissa Leigh Chinchillo and her husband Paul Bodig of Brooklyn, NY; his late son, Matthew Mark Chinchillo who died in 1988; step children, Karen and Michael Noonan of Westborough, James and Carol Fardin of Maplewood, NJ, and Robert Fardin and his wife Stephanie Creegan of Lowell; ten grandchildren, Sam, Julia, Harry, Isabelle, Jamie, Conor, Maggie, Caitie, Tommy, and Teddy; a brother, Robert Chinchillo and his wife Elaine of No. Reading; two sisters, Patricia Riley and her husband Al of Plymouth, MA, and Diane Kelley and her husband Lance of Wakefield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be received Friday morning, Aug. 30, from 10:00 until 12:00 Noon in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER. Ph.
