Obituary

Margaret M. “Peggy” (McDonald) Murray, 90, of Wrentham formerly of Franklin died peacefully August 25. She was the wife of the late Thomas P. Murray III.

Born in Worcester, November 1, 1928, the daughter of the late James L. and Margaret J. (Connolly) McDonald, Mrs. Murray was Worcester native and had lived in Franklin for many years prior to moving to Wrentham in 1974.

She was a graduate of St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing. A Registered Nurse she had worked at St. Vincent’s Hospital and had also been a nursing administrator.

Peggy had been long active in Town affairs in Franklin and Wrentham. She had served on the Franklin Board of Health, Franklin Conservation Commission and the Wrentham Zoning Board of Appeals. She had also been a member of the Democratic Town Committee in both towns. She had been a member of the League of Women Voters and past President of the Alden Club.

Peggy was an early member of the Charles River Watershed Commission, and appointed by then Governor Volpe to the Blackstone Valley Mental Health Board

She loved reading and spending summers at the beach in Mattapoisett.

She is survived by her children, Mary R. Verdin of Wrentham, Margaret F. Murray of Mattapoisett, Thomas P. Murray IV and his wife Kris of Heber, Utah and Patrick J. Murray and his wife Paloma of Los Angles.

She is also survived by her brother James McDonald of Worcester and her grandson Regis Verdin.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, August 31 leaving from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin at 9:00 followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church Wrentham at 10:00

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to your local library.
