Francesco Volpe of Medford died on Sunday, August 25 at Winchester Hospital. Born and raised in Manoppello, Abruzzo, Italy he was the son of the late Giacinto and Domenica (Mammarella) Volpe. Francesco came to the U.S. in the early 1960’s and has lived in Medford for the past 40 Years.
Francesco worked as a landscaper and loved to tend his own garden. He made his own wine, prosciutto and sausages, and loved passing his knowledge on to others. He loved to joke around and enjoyed vacations, especially cruises.
Francesco was the beloved husband of 62 years to Iolanda (DiMauro) Volpe, and the devoted father of Sandra DiRenzo and her husband Bartolomeo of Medford, and Franca Donovan and her husband Tim of Woburn. He was the loving grandfather of Cristina and her husband Frank Stornanti Jr. of Woburn, and Michele DiRenzo and his husband Kevin Barrett of Glendale, California. Francesco was the loving great grandfather of Valentina and Rosalina Stornanti and is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Saturday, August 31 at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday, August 30, from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
