Obituary

Donald J. “De-Dee” Croteau, 79, of Berlin, passed away at his daughter’s home in North Berwick, Maine on Friday, August 23, 2019, after a period of declining health. He was born in Berlin, the son of the late Leslie Edward and Marie Ann (Veilleux) Croteau and was a lifelong resident. Donald enlisted in the United States Army in 1958 and spent two years in the 3rd armored division in Frankfurt, Germany where he was stationed with the 143rd Signal Battalion as a radio operator. He was a construction laborer for 27 years with Local 668 until his retirement in 1994. Donald was a member of the Ryan-Scammon American Legion Post 36 and Aerie 1464 Eagles Club. He loved to fish, play pool, horseshoes and checkers, and most of all loved to dance.

Members of the family include his daughters Vicky Lynn Rix of Colorado and Donna Lee Bryant of North Berwick, Maine; a son Michael D. Croteau of Rye, NH; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister Nancy M. Watson of Berlin, NH. He was predeceased by sisters Joan Hood and Lucille Bellemore.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 10am at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin, NH. Interment will be in the St. Kieran Cemetery in Berlin. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home from 9-10am, prior to the service.
