Mark Alan Nappari, 61, of Norwell, MA, died peacefully on August 17, 2019, with his loving partner Jill, by his side after suffering sudden acute complications from a chronic condition.
A brilliant mathematician, Mark was among the young pioneers in the emerging field of computer programming. While completing his undergraduate studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1979, and earning his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Brandeis University he prepared for a career in Information Technology under the tutelage of the industry’s most prominent innovators.
Enthusiastically recruited by several of the leading firms comprising “America’s Technology Highway,” Mark’s first job was as a programmer with I.B.M where his contributions were instrumental in the development of the firm’s early business and consumer computer products and services. His professional accomplishments advanced exponentially throughout the decades culminating in a deep specialization in IT for the financial sector. At the time of his death, Mark was Senior Developer in Equity Trading Technology for PanAgora Asset Management in Boston, MA.
Mark relaxed by solving extremely complicated math problems, golfing, hiking, and recovering from both in a soothing hot tub. He is survived by his beloved partner, Jill Jardine of Hull, MA, his cherished stepson, Alexi Martel of Austin, TX, his brother, Michael Nappari of Athol, MA, and his mother Valentine Nappari, of Leominster, MA.
A Memorial Service/ Celebration of Life to honor Mark and pay respects will be held in September.
