William Thomas "Tommy" Carter, 83, of Sycamore passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Tommy was born on June 17, 1936 in Sycamore to the late John Wesley and Frankie Bell Willingham Carter. He was a self-employed farmer. Tommy served his country with honor in the United States Army in Korea after the war. He was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church. Tommy loved his family, especially his granddaughters. Tommy was well-known in Turner County and never met a stranger. He had many friends whom he loved.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ceciler Reid Carter of Sycamore; daughter, Hollie (Robert) Carter Funk of Sycamore; sons, Timothy Carter of Knoxville, Tennessee and Russell John Carter of Sycamore; brother, Gary (Denise) Carter of Sycamore; granddaughters, Julie and Ellie Funk of Sycamore.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 2:30 PM at Bethel Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Perry Funeral Chapel.
