Donald J. Gallagher passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice of Danvers. He was 83. Born and raised in Forest Hills, he was the son of the late John and Viola (Goff) Gallagher. A graduate of Boston Latin School, Don went on to earn his Bachelorate and MBA degrees from Boston College. He served in the Army Reserve and enjoyed a long career in the Banking Industry. A devotee of BC Football, Don followed all Boston sports teams. He was a Medford resident for 50 years, before recently moving to Stoneham. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a long-time active member of St. Francis parish. Donald loved spending time with his grandchildren and attended all of their sporting events and activities.
The beloved husband of the late Carol (Marruzzi) Gallagher, he was a devoted father of Donald Gallagher, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Hopkinton, Heather DiPlacido and her husband Michael of Stoneham. He was a loving grandfather to Sarah, Michael, Marissa, Karen, Jenny and Amanda. Donald was the dear brother of the late John Gallagher.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday, Aug. 21st at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home, Tuesday 4 – 8 PM.
