AGAWAM ~ Yolande (Roy) Leblond, 89, a longtime resident of Massasoit Street in the North End section of Springfield and a resident of Mansion Woods in Agawam since 1999, was Called Safely Home on the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, Thursday, August 15, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall West in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Saint Charles de Bellechasse, Province of Quebec, Canada on July 30, 1930, a beloved daughter of the late Adolphe and Alexina (Pelchat) Roy. She was raised in Canada where she taught school classes for many years before moving to Springfield in 1959. Yolande was a wonderful seamstress and worked for many years at the former Arkay Women’s Shop in Springfield and later at Emelie’s Bridle Shop in West Springfield. She was a longtime communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield and a member of Les Dames de Saint Anne Sodality of the Church. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Louis Philippe Leblond who was Called Home on January 6, 2007. They were married at Eglise de Saint Charles in Canada and were blessed with over 47 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving children, Rene J. Leblond and his partner, Christine Brisbois, of Chicopee and Diane M. Rybinski and her husband, Scott, of Feeding Hills; her four cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Leblond and his partner, Bryanna Feliciano, Alexis Leblond, Jacqueline Rybinski and her partner, T.J. Maniscalchi, and Alan Rybinski; her former daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Valois Leblond of Springfield; her dear sister, Marie Helene Roy of Saint Charles de Bellechasse; her two dear sisters-in-law, Nicole Lachance Roy of Beaumont, P.Q., Canada and Julienne Belanger and her husband, Roland, of Saint Charles de Bellechasse; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Leblond and Roy families. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her nine dear siblings. Her family would like to thank her wonderful friends and neighbors at Mansion Woods along with the staff at Heritage Hall, Baystate Medical Center and Baystate Hospice for the comforting care that they provided to Yolande. Her Funeral will be held on Monday, August 26, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, August 26, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
