Julio Duarte Lobo, 65 of New Bedford died August 13, 2019 at home after a long illness.
He was the husband of Victoria M. (Vieira) Lobo.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, son of Emilia (Duarte) Andrade of Pawtucket, RI and the late Julio P. Lobo, he lived in New Bedford for many years.
Mr. Lobo was formerly employed as a merchant mariner for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed his time at sea traveling the world, spending time with his grandchildren, music, trips to Foxwoods, chewing gum, watching Family Feud, and cooking for his shipmates and family.
Survivors include his wife; his 6 children, Shaylene Ferris and her husband Fabian of Brockton, Sarah Lobo and her companion Leonardo Rodriguez of New Bedford, Emilia Lobo of Florida, Julio Lobo, Jr. and his companion Jaylen DeJesus and Joshua Lobo and his fiancée Tina Khiev, all of New Bedford, and Kyle Vieira and his wife Jade of Seekonk; 2 brothers, Joao Lobo and his wife Anna of Florida and Anthony Baptista and his wife Karen of Boston; 2 sisters, Etelvina Andrade and Eugenia Lomba, both of Pawtucket, RI; 9 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His Funeral will be held on Monday, August 19th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, August 18th from 5-8 PM.
