Higouhi Irene (Garabedian) Bilazarian, 94, died Saturday, January 14, 2006 in the Odd Fellows Home. She leaves 2 sons, Peter and his wife Robin of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey and Manoog and his wife Phyllis of Worcester; a daughter Joan Handleman of Worcester; 2 grandsons, David Handleman of Holden and Gregory Bilazarian of Mt. Laurel, NJ; 2 granddaughters, Carol Cotter of West Boylston and Laura Lynn Bilazarian of Philadelphia; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Irene was born in Worcester, daughter of George and Agavaney (Barsamian) Garabedian. She attended Commerce High and Worcester Girls Trade School. She and her husband lived in Franklin, MA for 15 years. She returned to Worcester, and worked for the Worcester Club for many years. Irene was a member of Armenian Church of Our Saviour and was a former member of the Abbott Street School PTA. She had taken seamstress courses at Worcester GirlsTrade. She was an avid knitter and reader. Irene was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 11:00 am in the Armenian Church of Our Saviour. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester from 9:30 to 10:30 am Wednesday.
