CHICOPEE ~ John R. Bojarski, 96, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, August 10, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at Renaissance Manor on Cabot in Holyoke surrounded by all the memories that he loved and cherished. He was born at home in the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee on November 22, 1922, the beloved son of the late Joseph and Julia (Swiatlowska) Bojarski. A lifelong resident of Chicopee, he enjoyed working as a caddy during his younger years at the Orchard Golf Course. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the British Solomon Islands and attained the rank of Private First Class. Following his military service, he decided to travel the country and had picked up odd jobs and tended bar at many well-known establishments including the Brown Derby in Hollywood, CA. He returned to Chicopee and was employed as an Insurance Salesman and Manager for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He later worked as an Insurance Salesman for Mutual of Omaha and Bankers Life Insurance. He also worked for many years as a bartender at the Yankee Pedlar in Holyoke and the Ivanhoe Restaurant in West Springfield. He was a member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks, the Chicopee Dodgers Athletic Club and a founding member of the Chicopee Kielbasa Festival. During his leisure time, he was a voracious reader of non-fiction novels and a skilled card player. He enjoyed golfing and could often be found twilight golfing at Chicopee Country Club. His greatest joy in life was being a devoted father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren and he was always their “Champion”. He leaves his four loving children, Janica L. “Jan” Stadnicki and her husband, John, of Chicopee, John A. Bojarski of Northampton, John “Jack” Alves of Sandisfield and Marsha Tucker and her husband, Les, of Palmer; his seven cherished grandchildren, Michael and his partner, Katie, Rachel and her partner, Brandon, Sarah and her husband, Chris, Amber, Autumn, Allison and William; his several cherished great-grandchildren including his newest great-grandson, Caleb who was the light of his life and brought him great joy; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his five dear sisters, Mary Dudley, Sally Marcotte, Lee Rutkoswki, Bertsey Kozlowski and Julia Klimowicz. At John’s request, his Funeral and Burial are private. There are no visiting hours.
