Donald G. Desrosiers, age 76, of Taunton, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Morton Hospital in Taunton. He was the beloved husband of Mary Lou (Wood) Desrosiers, to whom he was wed on March 7, 1964.
Born in Newport, Rhode Island on April 2, 1943, he was loving son of the late Roland J., Sr and Genevieve (Green) Desrosiers.
Don grew up and was educated in Taunton. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was honorably discharged from active duty on February 14, 1968.
A resident of Taunton for most of his life, along with his wife Mary Lou, he had also resided for ten years in California. Prior to retiring, Mr. Desrosiers had been employed as a machine mechanic at Dale Medical in Plainville for fifteen years. He had formerly worked at the former Robertson Curtain Factory in Taunton and at the former Fall River Knitting Mill and Cameo Curtain in Fall River.
A communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Church in Taunton, he was also a former member of the Taunton VFW. Don was an avid sports fan but most of all, loved spending time with his wife Mary Lou and his dog “Lydia”.
In addition to his beloved wife, he was the dear brother of Roland Desrosiers, Jr. of Cape Cod, Ronald Desrosiers and his wife Nikki of Oregon, David Desrosiers and his wife Joan of Carver, Diane Souza of Norton and Mary Hunton and her husband Greg of Taunton. He is also survived by his cherished Godson Dominik Cote of Taunton, as well as his adoring nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Don’s wishes, burial will take privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne and visiting hours have been omitted,
