Clyde Bailey, 92, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, August 8, 2019, at Legacy Village in Tifton, Georgia.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 11, 2019, from 1 PM until 3 PM, at the Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald. Graveside services will be held immediately following the visitation, in the Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating.
Mr. Bailey was born December 9, 1926, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Arthur Comer & Nellie Jo Turner Bailey. He lived in Fitzgerald all of his life and was a tire salesman for Stone Oil Company for over 50 years. Mr. Bailey loved people and this trait showed in his work ethic. He never met a stranger and loved making connections with new friends. He worked with the Fitzgerald Police Department Auxiliary and participated in the Fitzgerald Bicentennial. In his 60s, he began powerlifting and won many awards in the sport. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed raising cattle in his younger years. Mr. Bailey was a Gideon and longtime member of Arbor Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and led the Men’s Sunday school class.
He is survived by two sons: William “Bill” Bailey of Fitzgerald and Alton Clyde Bailey, Jr. and his wife Elaine Chasteen Bailey of Bowling Green, Kentucky; a daughter: Carrie Jo “C.J.” King and her husband Greg of Fitzgerald; a granddaughter, Tina King of Ocilla; two grandsons: Joshua Bryan Bailey of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Jeremy Scott Bailey and his wife Ashley Reece Bailey of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and three great-grandchildren: Anell Bailey and Chase Bailey, both of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Corbin Lott of Ocilla. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Mary Ann Walker Bailey; a daughter, Brenda Diane Bailey Woodrow; and two brothers: William A. Bailey and David Earl Bailey.
