LEICESTER: James E. Ostromecky, age 77, died Tuesday, Aug. 6 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after a brief illness.
He leaves his wife of 20 years, Mary Jane (Hadley) Ostromecky, his son James J. Ostromecky, DDS and his wife Susan of Spencer, step daughters; Karen B. MacKenzie and her husband John of Goffstown, NH, and Dawn B. Mozina and her husband Chris of Brentwood, NH, a brother John Ostromecky and his wife MaryLou of Topsham, ME and a sister Rosemary Panis of Lathrop, Calif., 7 grandchildren; Erin, Jamie, Tara, Jonathan, Alex, Charlie and Luke, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife, Jean A. (Holloway) Ostromecky in 1995.
Jim was an electrical engineer for Ostro Electric Co. and previously at Perini Corp. before retiring in 2013. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 96 in Worcester.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of John R. and Mary Ann (Korpowitz) Ostromecky and later graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. He served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Harold N. Keith Post 204, American Legion in W.Boylston, Leicester Senior Center and the Paxton Tennis & Fitness Club. He loved fishing, boating, and traveling with his wife whom he adored.
Jim's funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 9 from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
