Chicopee – Maria Dos Anjos (Azevedo) Silva, age 86, was called safely home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 3, 2019. She was born on May 18, 1933 in Sao Jorge, Azores, a daughter of the late Jose and Isabele (Marques) Azevedo. Maria worked as an assembler for Hasbro for many years before she retired. She was a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus Parish where she also belonged to a very special group to her that would gather to say the rosary. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her food. She loved to garden and spend time tending to her flowers but above all she enjoyed spending time with her family and being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Antonio S. Silva Jr who passed away in 2008. She is survived by her 4 sons Antonio Silva and his fiance Almerinda Ferreira Leclerc of East Providence, RI, Joseph Silva and his wife Angelina of Chicopee, Carlos Silva and his wife Rosa of Seekonk, MA and Jorge Silva and his wife Karen of Berlin, CT; 1 daughter Filomena Ribeiro and her husband Louie of Chicopee; 6 sisters, Arminda, Liduina, Analia, Lucia, Guiomar and Idalina, 12 grandchildren, Jeffrey and his wife Sandra, Nicholas, Kaitlynn, Jessica and her husband Andrew, Christopher, Samantha, Madison, Nathaniel, Isabel, Luis, Shaun and Andrew; 10 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She is predeceased by 1 brother, 2 sisters and her grandchild Cassandra. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Aug. 9, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019 at 9:00 AM from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Assumption Church at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local burn unit or to the American Heart Association, www2.heart.org.
