Charlie Ray Reese, Sr., 84, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, formerly of Jeffersonville, Georgia, died Monday, August 5, 2019, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dewain Joiner officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Reese was born September 14, 1934, in Swainsboro, Georgia, to the late Ike & Maggie Reese. He lived most of his adult life in Jeffersonville and moved to the community five years ago. He was a machine operator for Inland Container and also worked in the insurance business. Mr. Reese enjoyed hunting, going to the mountains, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Fitzgerald Church of God.
He is survived by a son: Ray & Benita Reese of Fitzgerald; daughters: Cherry R. & Wayne Sims of Warner Robins, Pam R. & Michael Gibbs of Fort Valley; grandchildren: Nathan & Samantha Sims, Jamie & Megan Sims, David Sims, Cameron & Rhiannon Hall, Casey Tucker, Amanda & Brant Phelps and Lindsey & Josh Barron and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby “Joyce” Reese; and a brother, Roy Reese.
