New Bedford - Maria L. (Souza) Clay, age 60, of New Bedford passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel N. And Angelina (Amaro) Souza.
Maria was born in St. Michael, Azores and moved to this area in 1961 where she was worked as a machine operator at Johnson & Johnson. She enjoyed going to the casino and especially loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Rachel Clay and Michelle Clay; grandchildren, Abby, Claudina and Dillon Sousa; sisters, Maria Soares and Mary Lou Couto; brothers, John Souza and Joseph Souza; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Maria’s Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 7th at St Marys Church in South Dartmouth at 10:00 A.M. Visitation will be at the funeral home prior to the church service from 8:00 - 9:30 A.M.. Burial will take place at South Dartmouth Cemetery.
