Erna Ann Deeb of South Boston, MA passed away on July 27th, 2019. The daughter of the late George and Muriel Hansell of Stoneham, MA, she was also pre-deceased by her husband, James Deeb, BPD ret., sisters Marjorie Peoples, Eileen Bagley, Fay Lanzillo and brothers George, Jr. (Buddy) and Gordon Hansell. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her children Charles Fate of Dorchester, Lisa Keaney and her husband Joe of South Boston, grandchildren Ryan Keaney and his wife Lola, Shayne and Kerry Ann Keaney, all of South Boston and Rhiannon Fate of Milton. Also survived by great-granddaughters, Lily and Mila Keaney along with many other beloved family members.
Erna was a graduate of Stoneham High School where she played basketball and field hockey and later worked for a number of companies including Boston’s ABCD and Commercial Union Insurance. In addition to spending time with her grandchildren, she enjoyed hanging out with her sister, Fay, at “camp”, traveling to California and Florida to visit her brothers and especially the cruise she took with her sister, Eileen, traveling between several Hawaiian Islands. Erna's hobbies included drawing, singing in the Fourth choir, playing bingo and watching her Bruins, Red Sox and Celtics on TV with her cat, Gillie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Erna’s memory to the Fourth Presbyterian Church of South Boston where she was an elder for many years: 340 Dorchester St., South Boston, MA 02127 (fourthboston.org) or to the charity of your choice. Memorial service to be held at The Fourth Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 10th at 11 AM.
