New Bedford – Antonio Gonsalves, age 87, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019 at home. He was the beloved husband of Maria (Correia) Gonsalves and the son of the late Antonio and Cesaltina (De Graca) Gonsalves.
Antonio was born in Miranda de Corvo, Portugal and had served in the Portuguese Army. He moved to this area and had worked in the maintenance department for the City of New Bedford Water Department. He loved to watch soccer, especially Benfica as well as spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; 2 daughters, Elizabeth Gonsalves and Elsie Oliveira; 8 grandchildren, Brandin, Aaron, Brittney, Hillary, Alicia, Cory, Alexis and David; 5 great-grandchildren and a brother, Gus Gonsalves. He was also the father of the late Fernando Gonsalves.
Private funeral services were held for Antonio.
