Dawn Redus Mixon, 61, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, July 27, 2019, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, August 3, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Hallock Martin officiating. Her son, Michael Coffey and her brother, John Redus will give the eulogies. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Mrs. Mixon was born March 20, 1958, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Betty Holliday Redus of Fitzgerald and the late Dan Redus. She was a 1976 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and received her medical records coding education from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton. She worked for her family business, The Jolly Jeweler, in Fitzgerald for twenty years. She also worked for Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton for 21 years. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her son, Michael & Heather Coffey of Buford; grandchildren: Blake Coffey and Mia Coffey; siblings: Sandra Redus McCord & Sikes of Fitzgerald, John Daniel Redus & Carol of Holly Springs, North Carolina, and Holly Redus Miller & Gavin of Newnan; nieces and nephews: Katy & Chris Calhoun, Kurt & Danielle Heninger, Kaleb & Ansley Heninger, Andrew Redus, Aaron Redus, Abby Redus, Addie Miller, Austin Miller, and Aiden Miller; as well as several great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Curtis Mixon.
