Elizabeth T. “Betty” Main


TEWKSBURY: Elizabeth T. “Betty” (Ward) Main, age 65, a resident of Tewksbury for 39 years, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Hospital in Burlington on Wednesday, July 24, 2019.

She was the beloved wife of Allan R. Main with whom she celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on November 13, 2018.

Born in Brighton on September 27, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Ward and the late June (Wainwright) Ward.

Betty was raised in Brookline, and graduated from Saint Mary's High School 1971. Following graduation, she attended Framingham State College, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education 1975.

She resided in Tewksbury since 1980, where she rasied her five children, during this time she also created her own child care care services for others in need within the local community. After this time, she transitioned into managing a local retail establishment until her recent retirement.

Betty treasured spending time with her family especially all eight of her grandchildren, having family gatherings and playing Bingo at St. William’s Church on Friday nights.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Christopher A. Main of Tewksbury, Laura B. Bartlett and her husband George of Londonderry, NH, Cheryl A. Main and her husband Eric Marklis of N. Andover, Katherine M. Main of Lowell, and Deborah L. Main and her husband Robert McNaughton of N. Andover; her grandchildren, Juliana, Brooklyn, Briele, Tayah, Mason, Zachary, Brennan, and Madison. Her siblings, Margaret Buchanan and her husband David, Thomas Ward and his wife Sue, Mary Hannon and her husband John, Nancy Gaston and her husband Kenneth, Joan (Ward) Jones, her sister-in-law, Marilyn Ward and the late Jim Ward, also many nieces, nephews.

Calling hours are Sunday, July 28, from 2-4 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 29, at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury for her Funeral Mass. Interment will be Monday, July 29, at 2:15 p.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
