Betty Ray Walters Burdett, 83, of Ty Ty passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Rodney Owens officiating. Mrs. Burdett will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, July 26, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Chale Valdez, Chris Burdette, Curtis Richards, Andrew Fountain, Steven Hawsey, Robbie Walters, Josh Jones and Bryan Davis will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Phillips, David Davis, Charles Powell, James Herring, Roy Jones, Winfred Jones, James Ireland, Wayne Burdette and Robert Sledge.
Born August 18, 1935 in Ty Ty, Mrs. Burdett was the daughter of the late Frank Walters and Della Mae Griffin Walters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oren “Bully” Burdett; and one brother, Albert “Buddy” Walters. She was a bookkeeper at Herring CPA Group in Tifton for 65 years. She loved to travel and was a member of Ty Ty First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Burdett is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Frankie and Chale Valdez of Ty Ty; a sister-in-law, Judy Walters of Ty Ty; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nephews, that she was like a “mother” to over the years.
